Weekday vs weekend pricing: Most hotels apply a surcharge of 30 to 50% on Friday and Saturday nights and during holiday periods. The same room that costs COP 200,000 on a Tuesday may cost COP 300,000 on a Saturday. If budget is a constraint, visiting on weekdays saves money and reduces crowds simultaneously.
Cold nights: Villa de Leyva at 2,149m has cool nights (10–15°C year-round). Confirm that your hotel has hot showers and sufficient bedding. The mid-range and luxury properties all provide blankets or duvets; some budget rooms have only a single sheet. The hacienda properties with fireplaces are noticeably more comfortable in December and January.
