A Cali city tour is the quickest way to understand a city that is spread across a wide valley and does not have one obvious centre. The usual route links three things: the hilltop statue of Cristo Rey, the downtown core with its early twentieth-century civic buildings, and a museum stop at La Tertulia. If you want the full list of what else is on offer, see our best tours in Cali roundup; this page covers the city tour itself.
What the Route Covers
Cristo Rey. The 26-metre white statue stands at roughly 1,470 metres above sea level, west of the centre. Tours drive you to the base, where a viewing area looks across the grid of the city to the Andes. Independent visitors pay approximately COP 15,000 for entry as of 2026, and a registered taxi from the centre costs around COP 30,000 to 40,000 return. On a tour, entry is usually included. Morning is best: the air is clearer before afternoon haze settles.
The historic centre. Cali does not have a Cartagena-style walled colonial core, so the downtown walk is about civic architecture: domed and mansard-roofed buildings around the plazas, churches and the RΓo Cali. A guide explains which buildings survived the cityβs rapid growth and why the centre has a different character from the more polished western barrios. Wear sun protection, since shade is patchy.
Museo La Tertulia. The art museum on the Avenida Colombia riverfront holds modern and contemporary Colombian work and is a calm midday stop. Entry is modest, but confirm the current fee and opening days on arrival, as we cannot verify a 2026 price here. The longer tours include it.
Local tasting. The Gran Colombia Tours itinerary includes a fruit-market tasting, which is a useful introduction to the Valle del Caucaβs produce. Our Cali food guide goes deeper on what to eat next.
Tour Options and Price Ranges
- Gran Colombia Tours, about 6 hours: Cristo Rey, Tertulia and downtown. Includes a guide, hotel pickup and drop-off, car or van transport, the Cristo Rey and Tertulia entries and insurance. Meals and drinks are not included. Listed at about USD 160 per adult on resale sites as of 2026.
- Valley Adventours, about 3 hours: a car tour of the main sights plus a walking tour of the historic centre. Hotel pickup is not included. Listed at a similar per-adult price.
- Free or low-cost walking options: the most budget-friendly choice is a taxi to Cristo Rey and a self-guided downtown walk.
You can compare current departures and reviews through Cali tours on GetYourGuide. Prices change with season, so treat the ranges above as a guide only.
Who Should Book It
Book the tour if you have a single day, are travelling solo and want company and context, or are arriving by air and want a structured first day. Skip it if you have three or more days and are comfortable with taxis: you will see most of the same places for far less, and can put the savings into a salsa night or a day trip from Cali.
Practical Tips
- Start by 8:30am to see Cristo Rey before haze and heat build.
- Carry small notes in pesos for tips and snacks.
- Keep phones out of sight when walking downtown, and stay with your guide in the busier streets. Our Cali safety guide has the detail.
- For what to see afterwards, use the Cali city guide and the 3 days in Cali itinerary.
Operator details change, so check the official Cali tourism information{target=β_blankβ} for events that may close streets, particularly during the Feria de Cali in late December.
